Darrel Billups, Executive Director

Darrel Billups has been a Christian over 40 years.  He has served as Chairman of Church boards, Elder boards, Deacons and Youth Ministry.  In his professional career he has been an Aerospace Engineer, Teacher/Coach in the public school system, and founded a small business that grew to be the largest in the plastics shapes industry.  While coaching and teaching he founded a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Chapter in St. Charles, Missouri that still functions today.

In 2005 Darrel found what God had designed his purpose and that being Men’s Ministry.  He along with the Men’s Pastor formed a structure for Bayside Church Men’s Ministry that currently is the largest in Northern California.  His passion is guiding men into an intimacy with Christ and assisting these men to guide other men in the process.  In June 2010, Darrel was appointed Executive Director of NCMM.  He is also a Strategic Board Member of the Influencers Ministry, an International Discipleship Ministry.  Darrel is married to his high school sweetheart, Arlene. Their family consists of three married children and a combined 7 grandchildren.

 

Leary Gates, President of the Board

Leary Gates is the founder of BoldPath Life Strategies, as well as two high technology service businesses and a number of non-profit organizations. As a business man, husband, and father of four teenage and adult children, he confronts daily the stresses and challenges that many men face in integrating their calling as men of God in a variety of settings.

As a Mission Activator, his personal life mission is to ignite change and inspire breakthrough with leaders and within the organizations they lead. For over twenty-five years he has counseled and discipled men, taught adult bible studies and led numerous men’s ministry programs. Leary co-founded the IronWorks ministry where he, along with Pastor Roger Thompson, co-teach men in the Twin Cities area.  Follow his blog posts on his personal website at LearyGates.com.

 

Brian Doyle, Vice-President of the Board

Brian Doyle serves as Founder and President of Iron Sharpens Iron, a national conference network serving churches across the nation. His passion is to see the local church become effective in reaching and discipling men of all ages. Brian has served with The Navigators in New England in various capacities, as the New England Area Manager for Promise Keepers and as the Director of Men’s Ministries for Vision New England. He and his wife, Barbara have five children and reside in West Hartford, CT.

 

 

David Delk, Secretary/Treasurer of the Board

David Delk serves as President of Man in the Mirror.  He is the author or co-author of five books, including The Marriage Prayer, Dad in the Mirror and No Man Left Behind, as well as a novel, Twists of Fate.  David was named Emerging Leader of the Year (2000) by the National Coalition of Men’s Ministries and has been a visiting lecturer in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary.

He graduated with a degree in Mathematics from Furman University, and was selected to be a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn his Master of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida.

David has a great talent for helping people remember vital truths from God’s word.  His use of humor, illustrations and unique visual aids help men apply Biblical principles to life.

 

Phil Downer, Member of the Board

Phil Downer is the Founder and President of Discipleship Network of America, a nationwide network of people committed to following Christ’s life of winning and discipling others to become disciple makers. A former machine gunner who served in Viet Nam with the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and 1968, Phil is a popular speaker at men’s and couples’ conferences and is the author of Eternal Impact: Investing in the Lives of Others, A Father’s Reward, and Brave, Strong, and Tender– a book that details how this Viet Nam veteran learned to transfer his leadership from the battlefield to his home, his law practice, and eventually to running a nationwide ministry.

Phil was a successful lawyer before being led to Christ and discipled by fellow professionals. He left his position as one of the senior partners of a 50-attorney law firm, with offices in Atlanta, Washington, Dallas, and San Diego, to serve as President of CBMC for a decade. Phil is a former elder of his church and a member of CBMC.

 

Glen Dry, Member of the Board

Glen Dry is the Founder and President of Man to Man Ministries, a ministry headquartered in Victoria, Texas committed to men’s discipleship. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and holds two master’s degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is married to Cherylnn Dry and has three children. Glen speaks at men’s and couples’ weekends and is the author of a variety of small group men’s materials. He is also currently on the staff of Northside Baptist Church in his hometown.

Glen was a financial advisor who left his industry to pursue his calling in discipling men. Transitioning into full time vocational ministry has given Glen insight into the challenges and hard work it takes to make this calling a reality. His mission is to encourage men in their faith, equip them to lead their family, and engage them in the community to live lives that honor God!

 

Bill Terry, Member of the Board

Bill Terry is the director of IPHC Men’s Ministries and national coordinator of Disaster Relief USA for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. He has more than 35 years’ experience in church planting and leadership. Bill travels extensively in the U.S. and abroad, teaching, hosting seminars, and training leaders around the world. He is passionate about discipleship and has taken IPHC Men’s Ministries to a new level by providing resources, training, and outreach opportunities for local men’s groups. Bill and his wife, Rita, reside in Oklahoma City, OK. They have two children and five grandchildren.

 

 

Chris Van Brocklin, Member of the Board

Chris Van Brocklin spent ten years as a classroom teacher and fifteen years as a sales and marketing executive in the paper and packaging industry before founding Men With a Purpose and serving as National Director of Men’s Ministries for the Evangelical Free Church of America. In 2007, Chris re-launched Men With a Purpose as a ministry of Discipleship Network of America, serving all churches nationwide. Chris co-authored “Seven Keys to a Highly Successful Ministry to Men”, he is a founding member of the National Coalition of Men’s Ministries and also serves as Training Director for Man in the Mirror, the Washington Area Coalition of Men’s Ministries, and several other ministries.

Chris speaks frequently in leadership development, retreat, and conference settings. Chris and his wife Shelli have three grown children and three grandchildren and live in Ellicott City, MD where he enjoys hunting, fishing, sailing, and leading men in small group and one-on-one discipling contexts.  His real passion though, is helping to lead a disciple making men’s movement across America.

 

Mike Young, Member of the Board

Mike Young is Founder and Executive Director of Noble Warriors, a ministry that partners with churches to encourage men in their walk with Christ and equip men to lead their families. Originally from Suffolk, Virginia, Mike is a graduate of the College of William & Mary and George Mason University. Prior to beginning this ministry in 2005, Mike worked as a High School Science Teacher, Administrator, then as Custom Home Builder. While working in the field of education, Mike coached football and soccer and helped start two FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athlete) huddles. He lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife Stacy and their four children
